By - Rajat Mehrotra
Dr Diksha Dhayani, a 5'6 inches tall dentist is recently crowned as Face of Beauty International 3rd RU. She hails from Uttarakhand but has to shift new place in every 3 years as her father is serving the nation in army though she is currently in Chandigarh for her graduation. She is pursuing Bachelors in dental surgery. She loves riding bikes, painting and going on trek.
Hello Diksha! Congratulations for being crowned as 3rd RU of Face of Beauty International 2018 and thank you for representing India so beautifully. So how are you feeling now?
Thank you so much! Representing my country on an international platform was always my dream, so when i got the opportunity to do that, I gave my best and i'm happy that everyone felt that i represented my country beautifully and supported me throughout the journey.
What was going through your mind when you were standing there holding hands with other ladies? Were you exited or nervous? What was your state of mind?
At that time i knew that this is the final moment and i was just praying for a good result, because India had never placed in this pageant, so i wanted to make India reach there. I was more of excited than nervous because i knew that i have given my best and whatever is best for me, will ultimately happen. So at that time, i was just waiting for the results and for no reason i was just feeling happy. May be because making it to top 10 out of such talented and beautiful 46 other contestants was not so easy and i was already there so much closer to the crown.
How did your family and friends react to this victory of yours?
Everyone is so happy like it's there victory too and have been congratulating me. Honestly my mom was a little disappointed because like many other people who have been following my journey expected me to win the main crown but that was just a moment. She is more happy than me and many times asks me to show her my crown.
How has been the journey so far from Miss India Face of Beauty International to Miss Face of Beauty International 3rd RU?
The journey has been amazing. Its been full of ups and downs, lots of hard work and learning and i'm still enjoying every bit of it. I have got the best team to work with and had the most memorable days of my life with all the gorgeous ladies. I learnt the most important lesson that no matter what we have or do not have, we can always find a way to empower someone else. Along the journey i have experienced professional as well as personal growth.
You are a dentist by profession so who motivated you to enter into pageants? From where this all started?
Since childhood i wanted to do both. I wanted to be a beauty queen and represent my country on an international platform, i still have that diary with me in which i have pasted pictures of beauty queens representing India internationally when i was a kid. So, i choose dentistry as my profession but never let go my dream of being Miss India too. My sister is the one who encouraged me and supported me in every aspect of life. I was 15 years old when she first encouraged me to participate in Miss Teen India, then i participated in Miss Fresh Face and emerged as its winner at the age of 17 and further participated in few other national pageants and won them too. I have worked as a brand ambassador with Clean & Clear skin brand for 2 years and have done Punjabi movie named "Rupinder Gandhi the Gangster?" as a female lead and few songs too and there was no looking back since then. I decided to participate in Miss India Elite this year and won Face of Beauty International and rest is all is in in front of you.
What was your strength that made you stand out in Face of Beauty International 2018?
As a person i believe in doing everything in life and carry a spirit of never giving up. I'm very true to myself and never pretend to be someone else. I enjoyed the journey rather than just focusing on the competition and that helped me perform better and feel less tensed all the time during hectic schedule. I think it worked in my favor and moreover i feel that coming from an army family prepares you to be more strong, adaptive and disciplined and face every challenge strongly and this is what i exactly felt.
Fitness is a vital part of beauty pageants so how do you manage to be fit during the pageant days?
Your body is the reflection of your lifestyle. Being fit is not an option, its a necessity as you feel much more confident and happy. Even during our hectic schedule i always made sure that i take out time to do basic workout in my room itself and eating a clean diet.
Was there any pressure of performance as you were representing India on an international pageant? How you cope up with such situations?
Honestly, pressure is always there because you aren't going in the pageant just as an individual but you are going as your country's representative and this year India being the host country country made me more responsible as everyone was following my journey more closely and then are people who have high hopes from you and my organization and so many other people who have worked hard with me, but i always kept 1 thing in mind that a true queen can always turn pain into power and i have been blessed in such a way that even during the competition my organization and my team always kept me motivated and told me to enjoy the journey and have fun. That's exactly what i did and sailed through every situation.
Any message or advise you would like to give to girls who aspire to be a beauty queen.
Have faith in yourself and keep working towards your dreams and one day you'll achieve them.
What quality you think every beauty queen should posses?
According to me a beauty queen is one who is beautiful inside out, who personifies love and compassion and giver by heart, understands the value of humanity and can inspire people to believe in themselves
Who is your role model and how that person has inspired you to be what you are today?
My mom has always been the one who inspires me to be the best version of myself and i look up to Priyanka Chopra as a role model as she is a true example of strong self made woman with a lovable heart and has proved that you can achieve anything in this world. She is a true beauty queen for me.
What are your future plans? Will we be witnessing you in Miss India or Miss Diva in near future?
Right now i'm working with RuBaRu organization so for now i haven't planned for it, but yes sometime soon may be.
Any special memory from your pageant days that you will never forget.
Each and every moment has been special to me. I had the best of my life. Be it eating together, having fun during travelling or motivating each other, i'll never forget any of it but the most special one was when we visited Taj Mahal and being an Indian i felt so proud and happy to see as every participant was so amazed to see one of the seven wonder's of the world and the beautiful history related to it.
What message would you like to give to Miss Uttar Pradesh portal and reader reading this?
Always believe on yourself and strive to improve yourself. Don't be afraid to fall because you'll never know your strength until you've faced your struggles and just spread love ♥
Diksha shared a funny incident with us - During the pageant, we had such a hectic schedule that day before finale we had a shoot where we were supposed to wear our finale gown i realized that i have lost 2-3 inches. It was too late at night and was impossible to reach out to designer but thankfully being an Indian you know how to make things work so i called up my mom and she told me to sew it with hands. My director brought me the needle and thread, i sat down at night sewed it myself and it fitted me amazingly.
